Your Dog of the Day

Funny Dog Photos and Stories: Share Yours

Share your dog of the day story or photographs here. Send us your funny dog photos and funny dog stories (or even your not-so-funny ones). Tell us how your dog gets tangled up in dog supplies like leashes or harnesses, or how he or she looks all dressed up.

Your canine can become 'famous' and have his or her own place on the internet! As pet lovers and owners, we really enjoy seeing pictures of pooches and hearing about funny (or not so funny) stories.

We are also interested in hearing about experiences you have had with food and treat recipes: both good and bad. And if you have a particularly well-loved recipe, please share it with us too on this page, Dog Treat Recipes.

Share your story and photos with us, and we'll tell you when we post the story on this site; you can share the page with friends and family.

A Funny Dog Story: Benson

A Good Friend Shared This Story: When our children were young we had a wonderful pet named Benson. He really was a member of the family.

Benson was a black labrador and Rottweiler cross. He was a great family pet and loved our three kids. Benson also loved his food. We all knew not to disturb him when he ate his dry food; he seemed to savour it - eating slowly and chewing thoughtfully (not like our two dogs today who seem to try to gulp it all down at once).

His food and water dishes were beside the family room. Our son was two years old and had his toys in the family room.

One day, at dinner time, I was busy in the kitchen setting the table and my husband went downstairs to get Paul to come upstairs and wash up for dinner. We'd put Benson's food out in his bowl about 10 minutes earlier.

My husband walked into the family room to see Paul putting his tiny little hand in Benson's dish and take some food out to his mouth. Benson, very calmly, took Paul's hand in his mouth and licked it to get to the food.

Paul took another handful (he wanted to taste the food to see if was any good) and this time Benson took Paul's hand in his mouth and gently pulled it to the bowl - Paul figured out that Benson wanted him to drop the food back into his bowl!

My husband (more patient than I might have been) picked Paul up and took him to the kitchen. He praised Benson for being a good boy and for teaching Paul who's food was in the bowl. (Benson actually stopped eating, and tilted his head sideways while he listened to my husband - in fact, he always listened better than the kids!)

Paul, and our other children (two daughters), never tried to take any of Benson's food from him again. And Benson absolutely loved Paul and the girls and made sure that whenever he could he tried to train them!

Benson lived a long, happy, healthy life and was greatly missed when he passed away at the ripe old age of 13.
